'Everyone a Patron'
a talk by Geraldine Prince
Sunday 11 February 2001 at 3 pm

The German artist Joseph Beuys believed in the idea of 'everyone an artist'.
Geraldine Prince believes everyone is also in the position to be a patron of the arts. In a short talk, illustrated with items from her own collection as well as paintings in the gallery, Geraldine will explore the ways in which you can be a patron, supporting the arts by collecting the works of living artists.
The talk will cover how to develop your eye, focus on a particular area to collect, learn about contemporary art and plan how to build the nucleus of a fascinating collection of contemporary art - for less than the cost of a weekend in London!

Geraldine Prince taught Cultural Studies at Edinburgh College of Art for 15 years before becoming Depute Director of the Centre for Continuing Studies at eca. She has written many articles and catalogue essays on contemporary Scottish art and has contributed regularly to The Independent and The Scotsman.

The talk is free to all. Refreshments will be served. To allow us to estimate numbers, it would be helpful if you could let us know if you plan to attend.
